FSIN’s Youth Empowerment has been working under the mandate of the Saskatchewan First Nations Suicide Prevention Strategy. The strategy was developed to help reduce the high suicide rates among Saskatchewan’s First Nations people, particularly the growing numbers among our youth.
On September 24th, 2020, a Joint Commitment to address First Nations Suicide Prevention in Saskatchewan was signed between the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) and the Government of Canada and the Government of Saskatchewan.
A portion of Youth Empowerments work was to create a resource hub by First Nations for First Nations that is full of resources that meet the needs of our youth across Saskatchewan.
Waniskahk was built with the intentions to promote Mental Wellness and Life Promotion in the lives of our people so that they have the necessary knowledge and tools to live a healthy and holistic life.
